Confers with professional Architectural and Engineering firms and departmental administrators and engineers, concerning the planning, design and construction of a wide variety of building projects; Supervises the preparation of or may be involved in the preparation of design activities, plans and specifications for the construction, repair or alteration of public buildings, including schools, fire and police stations, public housing structures, etc; coordinates design work with consulting professionals and specialists in many related occupations, i.e., structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, heating and ventilating, sanitary engineers, etc. prepares preliminary studies relative to size of building, number of rooms, room capacity, orientation of rooms and presents such studies to agency administrators responsible for supervising the development of designs and plans; prepares or supervises preparation of specifications for materials and equipment; directs drawing of final plans.
