Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred: • Considerable knowledge of assessment and counseling/therapy principles and their practical application to complex casework, group-work, crisis intervention, and community issues • Considerable knowledge of group dynamics and a range of intervention techniques, governmental and private organizations, and resources in the community, laws, regulations, and policies which govern the program • Ability to establish rapport with patients in applying techniques or assessing psychosocial behavior and psychological aspects of patients problems • Ability to evaluate and screen patients for appropriate treatment and develop clear goal-oriented treatment plans and document progress of patients • Must demonstrate basic knowledge of trauma-informed care as well as psychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, attention deficit disorders, psychotic disorder, depression, personality disorder, substance abuse, schizoaffective disorder, and conduct disorders. It is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all North Carolinians, providing human service needs for special populations including individuals who are deaf, blind, developmentally disabled, and mentally ill, and helping poor North Carolinians achieve economic independence.
