Pathways to Life is hiring a Substance Abuse Professional to provide community-based services for adults with co-occurring substance use and mental health needs.
This role is designed for clinicians who enjoy building meaningful relationships, working independently in the field, and helping individuals achieve lasting recovery beyond the walls of an office.

As part of our Community Supports Team (CST), you will work alongside therapists, care coordinators, psychiatric providers, and community partners to support individuals with complex behavioral health needs.
Your responsibilities will include:
Conducting assessments and helping develop individualized treatment plans
Providing substance use counseling, education, and recovery-focused interventions
Helping members strengthen coping skills, daily living skills, and relapse prevention strategies
Supporting individuals in accessing community resources, healthcare services, employment supports, and recovery networks
Participating in crisis planning and coordinating care across providers and support systems
Monitoring progress and documenting services to support continued authorization of care
Collaborating with an interdisciplinary treatment team while maintaining significant autonomy in your daily work
Building relationships with community organizations and behavioral health partners to expand support opportunities for members
Manage your day with the flexibility and professional autonomy that community-based work provides.
Work with individuals over time and witness measurable progress in their recovery journey.
Collaborate with experienced behavioral health professionals who value teamwork, communication, and shared problem-solving.
Expand your experience serving individuals with co-occurring disorders while working across multiple systems of care.
Help reduce psychiatric hospitalizations, substance-related crises, homelessness, and other barriers that affect long-term recovery.
Candidates must hold one of the following North Carolina substance use credentials:
CADC – Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor
LCAS – Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist
LCAS-A – Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist Associate
CCS – Certified Clinical Supervisor
