The mental health tech will be an integral part of the patient's treatment and assist with group activities which may include co-facilitation of group activities under the direction of the therapist nursing staff. To assist with day to day management of the patient(s) on an inpatient psychiatric unit under the direction of a Registered Nurse, and ultimately a Nurse Manager.
Performs other nursing activities as directed, such as: collecting specimens following Universal Precautions, taking and recording vital signs as ordered and reporting any significant changes to the Charge Nurse and weighing patients and documenting on graphics sheets. Carries out a variety of patient care activities and clerical tasks which support the maintenance of the therapeutic milieu and which meet the patient's needs for comfort and safety.
