p>Duties & Responsibilities: - Partner with colleagues to plan and support all Grade 2 classes;
- Provide instruction (individually and in groups) using a variety of teaching methods to meet the needs of students with diverse learning styles and varying needs/interests;
- Prepare materials for classroom activities;
- Observe, assess and communicate student progress (academic, behavioral, social, physical);
- Manage classroom behavior and employ positive behavior practices to drive culture/climate;
- Prepare and implement targeted small group instruction for students requiring additional support;
- Explore and deliver responsive instruction based on current best practices in English Language Arts;
- Actively participate in wide variety of school day and extracurricular events as planned, including activities centered around professional development;
- Responsibly fulfill additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree;
- Current Connecticut Teacher Elementary Certification (#013, #305 or equivalent);
- Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to work cooperatively with other office personnel;
- Ability to handle and treat information confidentially;
- Ability to relate effectively with staff, parents, students and the public;
- Ability to plan and organize work schedule and set priorities;
- Ability to work independently and with a sense of urgency;
- Ability to motivate students, inspire trust and confidence in students, while working with patience and understanding.
