p>Essential Functions: The Teacher Assistant will:
• work in the classroom under the direct supervision of the classroom teacher • assist instructional personnel with development and presentation of learning materials and instructional exercises • assist students individually or in small groups to reinforce and follow up learning activity • monitor and assist students through drill, practice, and study activities following presentation of instructional concepts by instructional personnel • assist in supervision of students and in maintaining student discipline • perform a variety of regular clerical duties such as filing, typing, or duplicating materials • distribute and account for materials such as textbooks, supplies, and equipment; collect, assemble and distribute resource materials • assist in maintaining a variety of reports and records • assist in maintaining a neat, orderly, and attractive learning environment • assist in recess, lunchroom and bus duty • provide coverage for secretary when s/he is away from the office • assist secretary with filing, answering phone and relaying messages • perform additional duties as assigned.

Must be accepted as a student at UM Western and participate in onsite courses Must enjoy working with students Ability to take and follow directions easily Two (2) years college coursework or passing competency test within the first two (2) months of employment.
