Job Duties: ⢠operates, monitors and controls system wide output ⢠operates auxiliaries including firing up steam boilers, starting and stopping chillers, pumps, cooling towers, heat exchangers, refrigeration and HVAC equipment ⢠makes hourly readings and enter on log sheets; performs chemical & softener tests; blows down boiler ⢠maintains, inspects, and repairs mechanical equipment and components including compressors, condensers, expansion valves, service valves, thermostats, coils, and drive assemblies ⢠maintains, inspects and repairs pumps, motors, control systems, piping, and other equipment used in mechanical systems ⢠checks all equipment for proper fluid levels and operation before using ⢠stays alert for safety violations by other employees that may injure those employees, this employee, or other persons in the area ⢠takes immediate action to personally stop unsafe acts if delay to inform supervisor may allow accident to occur ⢠serves as lead-worker over subordinate Building Systems employees ⢠responsible for special events work; and campus maintenance emergencies. NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: For those positions in which incumbents will be working with and handling refrigerants, possession of an appropriate EPA refrigerant recycling and recovery certification for technicians will be required (as required under Section 608 of the Clean Air Act, 1990).
