The additional duties over and above a Medical Laboratory Scientist include but are not limited to at least three of the following: Lab Safety Officer, key administrator of temperature monitoring system, key operator on laboratory analyzer, responsible for non-routine instrument maintenance and upkeep, oversight of quality control, involved in test method validation, oversight of small equipment (thermometer, pipettes, timers etc.), chargemaster maintenance, proficiency testing program, supply ordering and oversight of inventory, Meditech Superuser, training of staff in the area they lead, etc. Because we serve diverse populations, our colleagues are trained to recognize the cultural beliefs, values, traditions, language preferences, and health practices of the communities that we serve and to apply that knowledge to produce positive health outcomes.
