The PA/NP in conjunction with the supervising physician is responsible for admissions, coordination and symptom management of chemotherapy or biotherapy patients, history and physicals, obtaining patient consents, providing daily care including ordering chemotherapy, referring to other specialties, discharging, transferring and responding to patients and families. As an intricate member of the team, the PA/NP must be able to successfully collaborate with other disciplines including but not limited to other internal or external medical or surgical specialties, social work, nursing, palliative care, psychiatry, pharmacy, research and nutrition.
