Our client is a growing contractor specializing in water and wastewater treatment facilities, with expertise in self-performed process piping and equipment work. The company handles technically complex projects involving active treatment facilities and is expanding its design-build capabilities.
About the Position
The Lead Process Estimator will take ownership of estimating complex water and wastewater treatment projects while providing leadership to the estimating team. The position will manage a team of estimators, with the opportunity to build and grow the team as workload increases.
The company has both hard bid and design-build capabilities. This position will have a direct influence on how the company prices and wins work and will contribute to the development of its design-build practice.
This is a hands-on leadership role, not a back-office estimating position.
Key Responsibilities
- Estimate self-performed piping and equipment scopes for water and wastewater treatment projects.
- Develop bypass strategies and pricing for work involving active process systems.
- Account for costs associated with maintaining plant operations during construction.
- Prepare estimates for predominantly hard-bid projects.
- Support design-build pursuits through early-stage pricing and constructability input.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and operations teams to understand existing systems.
- Review drawings, specifications, and site conditions to identify sequencing challenges.
- Develop pricing for phased construction and live-system work.
- Manage, mentor, and develop an estimator while helping build the estimating team as the company grows.
- Establish estimating best practices and contribute to the company's continued growth.
Requirements
- Strong background in process piping and equipment estimating, ideally within water and wastewater treatment.
- Practical understanding of treatment plant operations and the ability to take portions of a system offline while maintaining overall plant operations.
- Experience pricing bypass, phased construction, and work on live/operational systems.
- Experience with both hard-bid and design-build project delivery.
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing and constructability.
- Prior experience leading or mentoring estimators, or demonstrated readiness to take on estimating team leadership.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Must be located in East Central Pennsylvania and able to visit the office approximately once per month.
