Underwriting Program Manager

Novatae Risk Group is a national wholesale brokerage for hard-to-place property and casualty insurance coverages. We are seeking an Underwriting Program Manager to join our growing team. 

About the Role

Novatae is seeking an experienced Underwriting Program Development Leader to drive the creation, launch, and growth of specialty insurance programs. This role combines underwriting expertise, program strategy, carrier relationship management, and business development to build profitable, scalable programs that support Novatae's continued growth.

The ideal candidate is an entrepreneurial insurance leader who can identify market opportunities, develop carrier partnerships, design underwriting strategies, and lead programs from concept through execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and launch new insurance programs and specialty products.
• Build and maintain relationships with carrier, reinsurance, and distribution partners.
• Establish underwriting guidelines, pricing strategies, and portfolio management frameworks.
• Drive profitable premium growth while maintaining underwriting discipline.
• Monitor program performance, profitability, loss trends, and growth metrics.
• Partner with Operations, Technology, Compliance, and Finance teams to support program implementation and scalability.
• Lead business planning, market expansion, and strategic growth initiatives.
• Mentor underwriting talent and promote underwriting excellence across the organization.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of commercial insurance underwriting experience.
• Experience leading or developing MGA, program, E&S, or specialty insurance business.
• Proven success building carrier and distribution relationships.
• Strong understanding of program business economics, portfolio management, and underwriting profitability.
• Demonstrated leadership, negotiation, and strategic planning skills.
• CPCU or other industry designations preferred.
