Description

American Traveler is seeking a Cardiac Telemetry RN with cardiac telemetry or PCU/ICU experience for a night shift position requiring NIHSS certification.

Details

  • Work on a 29-bed Cardiac Telemetry unit
  • 1:4 patient ratios
  • Unit staffed with Charge Nurse, Unit Secretary, and PCTs
  • Equipment used includes Alaris IV pumps, SCD machines, Hill Rom beds, Dinamap monitors, Welch Allyn vital machines, wound vacs, temporary pacemakers, telemetry monitors, EKG machines, bladder scanners, and Doppler
  • Documentation via Meditech
  • Night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
  • Full time hours required including 3 weekend shifts per scheduling period
  • Floating required to areas of demonstrated competency
  • Uses Imobile for team communication

Requirements

  • Active RN license (Missouri or Compact) required
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 1 year of recent Cardiac Telemetry or PCU/ICU experience required
  • Ability to read and interpret EKGs and telemetry strips
  • Experience with post cardiac procedural care including ablations, cardiac catheterizations, Post Op Day 1 open heart, and permanent pacemaker placements required
  • Experience administering and titrating IV medications such as insulin, Cardizem, Cardene, and Amiodarone required
  • Experience with IV insertions, NGT placement and maintenance, chest tube maintenance, temporary pacemakers, and Foley insertions required
  • No employment gaps of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
  • US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration (no Canadian SSN accepted)
  • Two professional references required

  • Deliver care aligned with patient experience goals, including personalized communication and responsiveness to patient needs
  • Navy blue scrubs required (black scrub pants may be paired with navy blue top)

  • Many travelers have transitioned into full-time staff positions after completing contracts
  • Unit has received AHA recognition for Get With The Guidelines-Heart Failure Gold Plus with Honor Roll
  • Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; no local candidates accepted
