Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Telemetry/Step-Down position requiring 2+ years of telemetry experience and MO or compact RN licensure.

Details

  • Telemetry/Step-Down unit within a short-term acute care, Magnet-designated teaching hospital and Level I Trauma Center
  • Patient ratios of 1:4-5
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
  • Weekend rotation required every other weekend
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Floating required within service line to meet facility needs
  • Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

  • Active MO or compact RN license required (must match permanent residence for compact)
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of telemetry nursing experience required
  • EKG interpretation and cardiac drip management experience required
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Prior travel nursing experience preferred
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • Must be able to pass facial hair fit testing for respiratory protection

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care to telemetry/step-down patients including cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Perform IV therapy, phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, and PICC line management
  • Manage respiratory needs including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula, and oxygen administration
  • Administer medications including heparin protocols, cardiac and vasoactive drips (titration not required), and thrombolytic agents
  • Provide care for pre/post cardiac catheterization, angiogram, and cardiac surgery patients, including pacemaker and TR Band management
  • Manage renal and gastrointestinal patient needs including continuous bladder irrigation, hemodialysis management, and feeding tube care
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility as no local candidates are accepted
  • RTO limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract, with no RTO allowed during the first week of the assignment
  • Standard travelers may work up to an 18-month period at BJC facilities, followed by a required 3-month break in service
  • Permanent BJC or Saint Luke's employees must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler
  • Contract length is firm with no exceptions
