Description

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a Cardiac Stepdown position requiring 1 year of recent cardiac stepdown experience and Missouri or compact RN licensure.

Details

  • Work in the 3 South Cardiac Medical Intermediate unit of a hospital setting
  • 32-bed unit with patient ratios of 1:3-1:4
  • Cares for post-op CABG/valve, thoracotomy, respiratory failure, and chest pain patients
  • Uses chest tubes, temporary pacemakers, and BiPAP equipment
  • Utilizes EPIC EMR
  • Night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
  • Every other weekend required, or as needed by facility
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating required as needed to a similar or lower acuity unit
  • Night shift staff orient on day shift and must be available the entire week for orientation

Requirements

  • Active RN license eligible for licensure in Missouri or currently licensed in Missouri (Compact accepted)
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications from AHA required
  • NIHSS certification preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of recent inpatient Cardiac Stepdown experience required
  • No gaps in employment exceeding 90 days within the past 12 months

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for all age groups
  • Coordinate patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient care and comfort
  • Maintain professional accountability and evaluate effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers
  • Physical demands include standing, walking, bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance, as well as pushing, pulling, and gripping up to 50 lbs
  • Flu vaccination or Mercy-approved exemption required for all travelers from November 1 to April 1, with no declinations accepted
  • Dress code requires all black scrubs with Mercy logo on top; hoodies, non-logo jackets, t-shirts, open-toed shoes, earbuds, and fake nails are not permitted
  • RTO of up to 5 days allowed, must be made up during the assignment
  • Team players who promote a positive culture are preferred
  • First-time travelers may be considered for this position
