Description

American Traveler is hiring a Telemetry RN for a heavy neuro-focused unit requiring at least 1 year of tele experience and a WA or compact RN license.

Details

  • Work in the Telemetry unit of a Level II Trauma Center and Level II Pediatric Trauma teaching hospital
  • Heavy neurology patient population including post-surgical neuro and various neuro diagnoses
  • Patient ratio of 1:5
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:00 AM)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating between units required
  • No on-call requirements
  • Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

  • Active WA or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 1 year of telemetry experience required
  • Neuro experience preferred but not required; must be willing to learn a heavy neuro unit
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Skills in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and neurological/psychiatric care preferred
  • Experience with craniotomy, CVA, pre/post neurosurgery, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury patients preferred
  • Experience with BiPAP/CPAP management and chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac) preferred
  • Experience with procedural sedation administration and monitoring preferred

Additional Information

  • Provide telemetry and neuro stepdown nursing care to post-surgical and various neurology patients
  • Must be comfortable using the NIH Stroke Scale
  • May be required to float between sister facilities near the contracted location
  • Must commit to working 3 of 5 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
  • All RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted upfront prior to consideration
  • Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
  • Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify for travel pay rate; local candidates may be accepted at a lower rate
  • Former permanent staff may return as travelers after a 3-month waiting period, provided they live outside the 50-mile radius
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Any color scrubs accepted for RNs
