Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: PCU/Stepdown Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year in similar setting required License: Valid compact nursing license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Experience managing and titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips is a hard stop requirement. Description: Stepdown or PCU nurses are needed with cardiac drip experience. Candidates must choose one holiday, either Thanksgiving or Christmas, but cannot have both. The facility type is a Short Term Acute Care with Level II Trauma and Pediatric Trauma designations. The facility has a total of 629 staffed beds and is a teaching hospital. Scrub color is flexible for RNs and respiratory therapists. Charting software is Epic. Patient age groups include adults and geriatrics. The patient ratios are typical of stepdown care. Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretaries. Common patient diagnoses include CHF, Afib RVR, chest pain, and conditions requiring cardiac monitoring. Candidates must have skills in BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, cardiac telemetry, and IV insulin protocols among others. Management of cardiac drips is essential for this role. Travelers may be expected to float between nearby facilities if needed. References covering a year within the last three years are required during the compliance process. Inflexibility in scheduling may lead to contract termination. Communication devices needed to perform assigned duties will be provided at no cost. Modules are to be completed prior to start and during orientation, with time needed for completion varying by specialty.
