Description

American Traveler is hiring a Stepdown/PCU RN for night shifts requiring telemetry experience and OH or compact RN licensure.

Details

  • Stepdown/PCU unit within a correctional healthcare setting housing Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections (ODRC) inmates
  • Unit is locked and requires Corrections Officer (CO) access for entry
  • Patient population includes oncology patients (solid tumor and hematology) as well as non-oncology admissions for surgical, COPD, sepsis, pneumonia, and other conditions
  • Patient ratio of 1:3-4
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (19:00-07:30), 36 hours per week
  • Every other weekend required (Friday & Saturday nights)
  • Floating required within OSU system
  • Epic charting system preferred

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
  • Previous telemetry experience required
  • Experience with IV insulin protocols and insulin drips required
  • Strong cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation and management skills required
  • Experience with rapid response/code teams
  • Skilled in isolation precautions/PPE, oxygen administration, nasal cannula use, IV therapy/phlebotomy, and peripheral line care
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a manager/director or supervisor and the second from a charge RN or above (no coworker references accepted)

Additional Information

  • Provide telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and emergency response on a locked correctional stepdown unit
  • Candidates with only 1 year of experience will require manager review prior to offer
  • Must complete Ohio fingerprinting process urgently upon signing contract, including travel to a fingerprinting location if within driving distance or completing a mailed fingerprinting packet if not
  • RTO must be submitted with application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate
  • Former employees eligible for travel assignment after 6+ months away from the facility
  • Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible for traveler positions
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
