Description

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a Step Down/PCU unit requiring 1 year of experience and an active OH or compact RN license.

Details

• Step Down/PCU unit caring for adult and geriatric patients
• Common cases include burns, plastic/reconstructive surgery, urology, GYN, ENT, and oral/maxillofacial surgeries
• Performs specialized procedures including burn dressings, flap checks, and leech therapy
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:30 AM), 36 hours per week
• Every other or third weekend required
• Floating required within OSU facilities
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required at time of consideration
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of relevant RN experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Skilled in IV therapy, central/PICC/peripheral line care, and blood product administration
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and telemetry (on-unit and remote)
• Proficient in wound care/wound vac management and surgical drain care
• Experience with insulin drip titration and IV insulin protocols
• Skilled in respiratory care including oxygen administration and non-invasive airway management
• Experience managing substance withdrawal and psychiatric/neurological patients

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care within a surgical and medical step down/PCU setting
• Utilize rapid response/code teams as needed for patient emergencies
• Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager or director-level supervisor; coworker references not accepted
• Former facility employees eligible to apply after a 6-month separation
• Current employees of OSU hospital locations are ineligible for travel assignments at any OSU location
• RTO must be submitted and built into the contract prior to start, limited to 7 days or less
• Locals accepted at the same pay rate
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing contract to avoid credentialing delays
