Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Step Down/PCU night shift position requiring at least 1 year of progressive care experience and OH or compact RN licensure.

Details

• PCU/Step Down unit within a teaching hospital setting
• 36 hours per week, night shift (3x12, 19:00-07:30)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required within OSU
• On-call required
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of progressive/step down care experience required
• Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Experience with cardiac telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and rapid response/code team utilization
• Skilled in IV therapy, central/PICC/arterial line management, and blood product administration
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula, and tracheostomy care
• Experience with wound care/wound vac and IV insulin protocols
• 2 professional references required, at least 1 from a manager/director or supervisor, Charge RN acceptable as second reference, no coworker references accepted

Additional Information

• Provide telemetry-based nursing care to progressive/step down level patients
• Manage cardiac drips without titration, heparin protocols, and PCA pumps
• Participate in continuous bladder irrigation and feeding tube management as needed
• Must promptly complete Ohio-required fingerprinting immediately upon signing contract
• Former employees eligible for travel assignment after 6+ months away from the facility
• Current employees are ineligible for traveler positions at this health system
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Locals accepted at the same pay rate
• RTO must be submitted and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
