Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PCU Nights position requiring OH or compact license and prior telemetry experience in a corrections unit setting.

Details

• PCU/stepdown unit within a hospital setting
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-07:30), 36 hours per week
• Unit is a locked corrections unit housing ODRC inmates, requiring Corrections Officer access to enter
• Patient population includes active oncology diagnoses (solid tumor and hematology) as well as patients with cancer history admitted for other reasons such as surgical procedures, COPD, sepsis, abnormal labs, and pneumonia
• Float required within the OSU health system
• Required to work every other weekend (Friday and Saturday nights)
• Epic EMR experience preferred

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required, must be in hand at time of consideration
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Previous telemetry experience required
• Experience with IV insulin protocols and insulin drips required
• Strong cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation and management skills required
• Skilled in oxygen administration, nasal cannula use, IV therapy/phlebotomy, and peripheral line care and management
• Knowledgeable in isolation precautions and PPE use
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a manager, director, or supervisor; a Charge RN is acceptable as the second reference; coworker references not accepted

Additional Information

• Provide cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and emergency response as part of daily responsibilities
• Utilize rapid response and code teams as needed
• First-time travelers will be considered for this role
• Locals are accepted at the same rate
• Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more
• Current employees are ineligible to be hired as travelers at any Ohio State University hospital location
• RTO must be submitted with application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
• Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing contract due to urgent state requirements
