Progressive Care Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

This position involves providing nursing care in a Progressive Care Unit, which includes both step-down ICU and telemetry monitoring. The unit comprises 15 beds, including 3 dedicated to step-down ICU and 12 for telemetry patients. The nurse-to-patient ratio will be 1:4 for Progressive Care and 1:3 for Step-down ICU.

Shift Information

• Scheduled 36 hours per week following the initial week of orientation.
• No guarantee of hours.
• Holiday coverage is required.

General Responsibilities

• Deliver primary nursing care to patients.
• Monitor telemetry and interpret telemetry strips.
• Perform fingerstick blood sugar tests.

Equipment Utilized

• Meditech charting system
• Pyxis for medication management
• BIPAP machines
• Continuous cardiac monitoring systems

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in an acute care hospital setting within the last year.
• Progressive Care and telemetry experience are preferred.

Licensure and Certifications

• Current ACLS certification is required.
• BLS/BCLS certification is required.
• PALS and NIHSS certifications are preferred.

Floating Requirements

The nurse may be required to float to other acute care units, including Medical, Surgical/Pediatric, ICU, and ER, as needed.

Dress Code

Scrubs are the required attire for this position.
