Description

American Traveler is hiring a PCU RN for a night shift float pool position requiring 2 years of specialty telemetry experience and both Kansas and Missouri or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Float pool position covering approximately 5 Med/Surg Intermediate/PCU units without a designated home unit
• May float to other metro campuses as needed to meet facility staffing needs
• Night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts from 18:45 to 07:15
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Weekend requirement of 8 shifts within Saint Luke's 6-week schedule period, combination of Friday/Saturday/Sunday
• Charge RN assignments and holiday shifts as needed per unit
• No on-call requirements
• Care settings include MS/Tele, Telemetry, Cardiac Telemetry, and Neuro Stepdown units
• Cardiac monitoring responsibilities including dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Care for patients pre/post cardiac catheterization
• Manages patients with sepsis, wound care, ETOH, SI, renal failure, AFIB, GIB, stroke, and COVID
• Utilizes 12 lead EKG, AirVo, Voalte, and Omnicell equipment
• EPIC EMR system used

Requirements

• Active Kansas and Missouri RN license or compact license required in hand at time of consideration
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required; ACLS preferred
• 1 to 2 years of RN experience required, with 2 years of recent specialty experience preferred
• Must have a full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months with no employment gap greater than 90 days in the past year
• Sheath removal skills preferred
• Feeding tube care and management skills preferred
• IV therapy and phlebotomy skills required, including port access, blood product administration, and central line care preferred
• Two professional references required, one from a supervisor and one from a charge RN, both from within the past year
• SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide telemetry nursing care across multiple Med/Surg Intermediate and PCU units
• Support cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and dysrhythmia management for a diverse patient population
• Willingness to float between departments, units, and facilities as needed is required
• No more than 7 days of RTO permitted, and all RTO must be finalized at time of consideration
• No new RTO or schedule requests permitted after submission or offer
• Must complete EPIC EMR training module or test-out option prior to start
• Infusion pump and glucometer training must be completed prior to start date
• Local candidates not accepted; must reside outside a 75-mile radius from the facility
• Returning staff must have a 3-month break in service after 18 months of previous employment
• Former permanent employees of BJC or Saint Luke's must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
