Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring MO or compact RN license and 2 years of recent telemetry/PCU experience at a Magnet-recognized teaching hospital.

Details

• PCU unit within a tertiary care hospital setting
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts (18:45-07:15)
• 13-week assignment length
• Weekend requirement of 8 shifts per 6-week schedule (combination of Friday/Saturday/Sunday)
• Holiday shifts and Charge RN assignments as needed per unit
• Regular floating may be required between departments, units, and facilities
• No on-call requirement
• EPIC EMR used, experience preferred

Requirements

• Active RN license, Missouri or compact required
• Both Kansas and Missouri (or compact) license required in hand due to floating requirements
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent specialty experience, with full year in-specialty experience within past 12 months and no employment gaps greater than 90 days
• Cardiac telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation/management skills required
• Experience with central line, PICC line, and peripheral line care/management
• Experience with blood product administration and IV therapy/phlebotomy
• Respiratory care skills including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube management, HFNC, and ABG interpretation
• Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions
• Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration)
• Feeding tube care and IV insulin protocol experience
• Pre/post cardiac catheterization, cardiac surgery, and post-MI care experience
• Pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care experience
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Charge RN experience preferred
• Two professional references required, one from a supervisor and one from a charge RN, both from within the past year

• Facility is a 5-time Magnet-designated, teaching, Level 1 Trauma tertiary care hospital with 456 staffed beds
• Provide comprehensive PCU-level nursing care including cardiac monitoring, rapid response coordination, and management of complex medical-surgical telemetry patients
• No local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius of the facility
• Pending license candidates accepted
• Maximum RTO of 7 days permitted for the assignment
• Travel partners are not accepted for this position
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply

• Employees with a prior permanent role at BJC or Saint Luke's must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
