Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PCU Float position requiring 2 years of recent telemetry/PCU experience and both Kansas and Missouri or compact RN licensure for facility floating.

Details

• PCU Float position with work in MS/Tele, Cardiac Telemetry, ER Holding, Neuro Stepdown, and PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown settings
• 13-week assignment, night shift, 3x12 hours (6:45p-7:15a)
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• 8 weekend shifts required within Saint Luke's 6-week schedule period, combination of Friday/Saturday/Sunday
• Holiday shifts and charge RN assignments as needed per unit
• Regular floating required between departments, units, and facilities as needed
• No on-call requirement

Requirements

• Active RN license - both Kansas and Missouri or compact license required in hand
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of recent specialty experience required, including a full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months with no employment gap greater than 90 days
• Charge RN and teaching hospital experience preferred
• Epic charting system experience preferred
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring including dysrhythmia interpretation/management and telemetry (on-unit and remote) monitoring
• Experience with cardiovascular care including pre/post cardiac cath, cardiac surgery, and post MI
• Experience with IV therapy including central line, PICC line, and peripheral line care, blood product administration, and phlebotomy
• Experience managing cardiac drips (non-titration) and heparin protocols
• Experience with respiratory care including chest tubes, BiPAP/CPAP, tracheostomy management, and high flow nasal cannula
• Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
• Experience with feeding tube care, IV insulin protocols, pre/post hemodialysis management, and CVA care
• Experience with total joint replacement and peripheral nerve block catheter care preferred
• Port accessing/management and chemotherapy monitoring skills preferred
• 2 professional references required, one supervisor level or above and one charge RN level, both from within the past year

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive PCU-level nursing care across a range of cardiac, respiratory, renal, and neurological conditions
• Support rapid response/code teams as needed
• Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for consideration
• Maximum RTO of 7 days, with all time off requests finalized at time of submission
• No additional RTO or schedule changes permitted after submission or offer
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Returning staff must observe an 18-month tenure policy with a 3-month break in service
• Former permanent employees of BJC or Saint Luke's must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Facility may extend an offer without an interview, though interview accommodations can be requested
