Travel RN Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,940–$2,040
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks

- Shift Duration: 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m.
- Hours: 36 hours per week
- Healthcare Setting: Medical-surgical and telemetry float pool
- Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients
- Typical Patient Ratio: Up to 1:5
- Orientation: 24 hours
- Weekend Requirement: Minimum of four weekend shifts per four-week schedule; availability for some holidays may be required
- Floating: Required across units with equivalent or lower acuity as needed
Medical-Surgical Telemetry RN Job Requirements
- At least 2 years of recent medical-surgical and telemetry nursing experience
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Current Registered Nurse license in Ohio or an active compact RN license in hand at the time of submission
- Current BLS certification
- ACLS, NIHSS, and CPI certifications preferred or required based on unit assignment
- Strong telemetry monitoring and cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation skills
- Proficiency with IV starts, peripheral and central line care, blood product administration, wound care, and oxygen therapy
- Experience with Epic electronic health records
- Ability to manage a diverse medical-surgical patient population, including patients with cardiac, respiratory, renal, neurological, orthopedic, and post-surgical needs
- Education from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program
- Two professional references, including at least one reference from a manager, director, supervisor, or other formal nursing leader
- Ability to complete required credentialing and Ohio fingerprinting promptly
Travel Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide safe, compassionate, and evidence-based nursing care to medical-surgical and telemetry patients
- Monitor cardiac rhythms, recognize changes in patient condition, and escalate concerns appropriately
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments, administer medications, and evaluate patient responses to treatment
- Manage IV therapies, central and peripheral lines, feeding tubes, chest tubes, wound vacuums, tracheostomies, and other specialty equipment as indicated
- Support patients requiring respiratory therapies, insulin protocols, heparin protocols, blood products, and non-invasive airway management
- Coordinate care with physicians, respiratory therapists, therapy services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and other interdisciplinary partners
- Float to different units within the organization while maintaining safe practice and adapting quickly to changing patient assignments
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatments, medications, and discharge plans
- Accurately document nursing care and clinical findings in Epic
- Contribute to a positive team environment through clear communication, organization, and attention to detail
