Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse (RN) – 13-Week Night Travel Nursing Contract in Columbus, Ohio

PCU Travel Nurse Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,940–$2,040

- Shift: Nights, 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week; 36 hours per week

- Orientation: 24 hours
- Unit Environment: Approximately 31 beds with an average daily census of about 25 patients
- Float Requirement: Float to other units as needed

PCU Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- At least 1 year of recent Registered Nurse experience in a PCU, stepdown, intermediate care, or similar acute care setting
- Active Ohio RN license or valid compact RN license in hand at the time of submission
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Graduation from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program
- Demonstrated competency with CPAP/BiPAP, cardiac drip titration, and telemetry monitoring
- Comfort serving as a charge-capable nurse on night shifts
- Two professional references, including at least one manager, director, supervisor, or other formal leader
- Current influenza vaccination; medical exemptions may be considered
- Willingness to complete required credentialing and fingerprinting promptly
Progressive Care Unit RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with conditions including bacteremia, COPD exacerbations, chronic kidney disease, altered mental status, gastrointestinal bleeding, falls, abdominal pain, failure to thrive, and behavioral health holds
- Perform thorough assessments, develop individualized care plans, administer medications, and evaluate patient responses
- Monitor telemetry and recognize, interpret, and manage dysrhythmias
- Safely titrate cardiac medications and manage heparin protocols according to established guidelines
- Provide non-invasive airway support, including CPAP, BiPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, and oxygen therapy
- Care for chest tubes, feeding tubes, tracheostomies, peripheral lines, wound vacs, PCA devices, and related equipment
- Apply appropriate isolation precautions and infection-prevention practices
- Respond effectively to rapid response and code situations while collaborating with interdisciplinary teams
- Float to other units as assigned while maintaining safe, compassionate, and patient-centered care
- Communicate clearly with patients, families, providers, and support services throughout the plan of care
