Travel RN Job Details

  • Location: Columbus, Ohio
  • Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing assignment
  • Dates: November 2, 2026–February 1, 2027
  • Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 36 hours per week
  • Shift: 12-hour days, 7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m.
  • Weekend Coverage: Approximately 3–4 weekend days per month
  • Unit: Mixed medical-surgical and progressive care unit with approximately 27 beds
  • Typical Patient Ratio: 4 patients per nurse
  • Orientation: 36 hours
  • Float: May float to lower-acuity units within the organization as needed

Progressive Care Travel RN Requirements

  • Active Ohio RN license or valid compact RN license in hand
  • At least 2 years of clinical nursing experience
  • Current BLS/BCLS certification
  • IV certification and demonstrated IV therapy competency
  • Experience with EPIC preferred
  • Strong communication, critical-thinking, organization, and multitasking skills
  • Progressive care nursing experience helpful but not required
  • Ability to care for adult and geriatric patients with complex medical conditions
  • Education from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program
  • Two professional references, including at least one supervisor, manager, director, or other formal nursing leader
  • Ability to complete required Ohio fingerprinting and credentialing promptly after accepting the assignment

PCU Travel RN Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a mixed medical-surgical and progressive care setting
  • Start and manage peripheral IVs, administer medications, and provide IV antibiotics
  • Monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythms, oxygenation, and patient responses to treatment
  • Recognize and manage changes in patient condition, including dysrhythmias, altered level of consciousness, organ failure, and substance withdrawal
  • Perform and support clinical procedures such as Foley catheter care, PICC line management, chest tube care, paracentesis support, lumbar puncture support, and peritoneal dialysis care
  • Educate patients and families about treatments, medications, recovery, and self-care
  • Collaborate with physicians, pharmacy, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and other members of the care team
  • Document assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes accurately in EPIC
  • Use appropriate isolation precautions and personal protective equipment while maintaining a safe patient-care environment
  • Float to designated lower-acuity units when needed and follow applicable hospital policies and procedures
