Travel RN Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,940–$2,040
- Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing contract
- Location: Columbus, Ohio
- Start Date: November 16, 2026
- Schedule: 36 hours per week; 3 shifts per week
- Shift Duration: 12-hour rotating shifts
- Shift Options: Days, 7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m., or nights, 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.
- Rotation: The same shift is assigned for four weeks, followed by rotation to the opposite shift for the next four weeks
- Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend, including Friday and Saturday coverage
- Patient Assignment: Approximately 4–5 patients
- Healthcare Setting: Medical-surgical telemetry in a secure, locked correctional healthcare unit
- Float Requirement: Flexibility to float to other units within the care network as needed
Med/Surg Telemetry RN Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio or a valid compact-state license in hand at the time of submission
- At least 1 year of recent Registered Nurse experience; candidates with first-time travel nursing experience are welcome to apply
- Previous medical-surgical telemetry nursing experience
- Strong cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation skills
- Experience with IV insulin protocols and insulin drips
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Experience with electronic charting systems and electronic medical records
- Education from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program
- Ability to complete required Ohio fingerprinting and credentialing promptly before the assignment begins
- Two professional references, including at least one manager, director, supervisor, or other formal nursing leader
- Comfort working in a secure correctional healthcare environment and following all safety, access, and isolation procedures
Travel Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to medical-surgical and telemetry patients with complex acute conditions
- Monitor cardiac rhythms, recognize dysrhythmias, and communicate significant changes promptly
- Administer medications and manage IV insulin protocols and insulin drips according to established standards
- Assess patients with oncology-related diagnoses as well as conditions such as pneumonia, sepsis, COPD, abnormal laboratory findings, and postoperative needs
- Recognize changes in patient condition and participate effectively in rapid response and code team interventions
- Provide oxygen therapy, non-invasive airway support, peripheral line care, and other routine medical-surgical nursing interventions
- Apply appropriate isolation precautions and personal protective equipment practices
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record
- Collaborate with providers, corrections officers, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team while maintaining patient safety and professional boundaries
- Adapt to rotating shifts, weekend coverage, and floating assignments as required
