Travel RN Job Details

- Patient Ratio: Approximately 1 nurse to 3 patients
- Schedule Expectations: Weekdays, occasional weekends, and rotating holidays
- Float Requirement: Willingness to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed
Progressive Care Unit RN Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license; compact or applicable state license must be in hand at the time of submission
- At least 2 years of recent Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing experience
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Epic electronic health record charting experience required
- Education from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program
- Experience with telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, IV starts, central and peripheral line care, and PICC management
- Experience caring for transplant patients and patients with renal failure, insulin protocols, and complex medical-surgical conditions is strongly valued
- Two professional references, including at least one formal supervisor, manager, director, or other leader
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred but not required
PCU Travel Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult PCU patients with complex medical and transplant-related conditions
- Monitor telemetry and recognize, interpret, and respond to changes in cardiac rhythms
- Care for patients with kidney, liver, and pancreas transplants, possible rejection, acute kidney injury, infections, uncontrolled diabetes, hepatology conditions, and gastrointestinal bleeding
- Administer medications and manage insulin protocols in accordance with established clinical standards
- Perform IV starts and provide care for peripheral lines, central lines, ports, and PICC lines
- Support pre- and post-hemodialysis care, renal failure management, continuous bladder irrigation, feeding tube care, and non-invasive airway support as appropriate
- Complete accurate and timely nursing documentation in Epic
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams, including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, rehabilitation, radiology, social services, and rapid response resources
- Float to comparable or lower-acuity units when needed while maintaining safe, patient-centered care
