Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit position requiring 2 years of acute care experience and a current OH or compact RN license.

Details

  • Medical Oncology Progressive Care Unit with med-surg overflow
  • 36-bed Oncology Telemetry unit with 24+ PCU-level beds
  • Patient population includes solid tumor, orthopedic oncology, and thoracic oncology diagnoses
  • Pediatric patients are occasionally present but primarily cared for by permanent staff
  • Rotating 12-hour day/night shifts (7:00-19:30 or 19:00-7:30), reviewed every 4-week scheduling period
  • Staffing ratios of 1:4-5 for Med Surg Telemetry and 1:3 for PCU
  • Required to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity
  • Uses B450 GE telemetry monitors, bladder scanners, Alaris pumps, Stryker beds, continuous bladder irrigation, and PCA pumps
  • Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license required at time of submission
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of current acute care nursing experience within the last 12 months
  • At least 1 year of PCU experience required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Skilled in dysrhythmia interpretation, rapid response team use, feeding tube management, port access, blood product administration, and central/peripheral/PICC line care
  • Proficient in starting IVs, heparin protocols, cardiac drip management, PCA, chest tube management, and BiPAP/CPAP use
  • Experience with high flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, nasal cannula, and tracheostomy management required
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Oncology experience, chemotherapy administration/monitoring, wound care, arterial line management, and insulin drip titration preferred
  • 2 professional references required, including at least one from a manager or director; charge RN acceptable for the second reference; coworker references not accepted

Additional Information

  • Deliver high-acuity progressive care to oncology patients with a strong focus on infection prevention and fall prevention protocols
  • Work alongside permanent staff in a specialized oncology telemetry environment
  • Willingness to learn and grow nursing practice is valued; prior travel experience is preferred but not required
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing the contract due to strict compliance timelines
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate
  • Former employees eligible for assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
  • Current employees are not eligible for travel assignments at this health system
  • RTO must be submitted with the contract and limited to 7 days or less
