Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit position requiring PCU experience and an active OH or compact RN license.

Details

• Medical Oncology unit with progressive care beds and occasional pediatric patients
• 36-bed Oncology Telemetry unit with over 24 beds dedicated to PCU level of care
• Patient diagnoses include solid tumor, orthopedic oncology, and thoracic oncology
• 12-hour rotating day/night shifts based on department needs, reviewed every 4-week scheduling period
• Staffing ratios of 1:4-5 for Med Surg Telemetry and 1:3 for PCU
• Required to float within units of equivalent or lower level of acuity
• Uses B450 GE telemetry monitors, bladder scanner, Alaris pumps, Stryker beds, continuous bladder irrigation, and PCA pumps
• Weekend shifts are variable
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of current acute care experience within the last 12 months, with at least 1 year of PCU experience
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• Required skills include interpretation of dysrhythmias, rapid response team use, feeding tube care, port access, blood product administration, central/peripheral/PICC line care, IV starts, heparin protocols, cardiac drip management, PCA, chest tube management, CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, nasal cannula use, and tracheostomy management
• Preferred skills include dysrhythmia management, insulin drip titration, phlebotomy, chemotherapy administration and monitoring, wound care/wound vac, arterial line management, surgical drains, and non-invasive airway management
• Oncology experience preferred but not required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a manager/director and the second acceptable from a Charge RN; no coworker references accepted

Additional Information

• Provide high-acuity progressive care nursing with heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and fall prevention
• Pediatric patients are occasionally present but rarely assigned to agency RNs; pediatric experience not required
• Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing contract, including travel to a fingerprinting location if within driving distance or completion of a mailed packet if outside the state
• Locals accepted at the same pay rate
• Former employees eligible for travel assignment after 6+ months away from the facility
• Current employees are ineligible for travel assignments at this health system
• RTO must be submitted and built into the contract at time of consideration, limited to 7 days or less
