Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift position requiring 2 years of PCU experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

• Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) of a hospital, focused on lower acuity cardiac patients
• Cardiac experience preferred
• Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
• Estimated patient ratio of 1:3 to 1:4
• Weekday and some weekend shifts required
• Rotating holiday coverage required
• Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity level
• Uses Epic EMR system

Requirements

• Active RN license (Ohio state or compact) required, must be in hand at time of consideration
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (NIHSS may be preferred)
• Minimum 2 years of PCU experience required
• Skills required: IV starts and telemetry monitoring
• Epic EMR experience required
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a manager/director or supervisor; charge RN acceptable as second reference; no coworker references accepted

Additional Information

• Provide cardiac telemetry monitoring and care within a progressive care/stepdown unit setting
• Skills utilized may include IV therapy, central and peripheral line care, arterial line management, chest tube care, BiPAP/CPAP management, and cardiac drip management
• Additional relevant skills include insulin drip titration, sheath removal, TR band application, and wound care
• Locals are accepted at the same rate
• Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more
• Current employees of Ohio State University hospital locations are ineligible to be hired as a traveler
• RTO must be requested and built into the contract prior to booking, limited to 7 days or less
• Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting requirements urgently upon signing contract, as this is a mandatory state requirement
