Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a PCU/Stepdown position requiring at least 1 year of progressive care experience and an Ohio or compact RN license.

Details

• work in a 32-bed Mixed Acuity Stepdown/PCU unit with an average daily census of 25-32 patients
• Care for patients with various medical diagnoses as well as pre- and post-surgical patients with mixed acuity
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• 36 hours per week with every other weekend required
• Uses Epic EMR
• Floating required within the OSU organization as needed
• Call required

Requirements

• Active Ohio or compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
• Minimum 1 year of recent progressive care/PCU or Stepdown experience required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIHSS certification required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• 2 professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor; charge RN acceptable for the second; no coworker references accepted

Additional Information

• Provide care to a mixed-acuity patient population including pre- and post-surgical and PCU-level patients
• Preferred skills include telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, rapid response/code team participation, IV therapy, blood product administration, central line and PICC care, heparin protocols, respiratory support, and wound care
• Teaching hospital experience welcomed
• Scrub color and details provided at orientation
• One pre-approved time-off request allowed per contract, limited to 7 days or less
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• Former employees eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more
• Current employees are ineligible to be hired as a traveler at this health system
• Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing the contract due to strict credentialing timelines
