Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift position requiring an Ohio or compact RN license and stepdown/telemetry experience.

Details

  • Work in a Stepdown/PCU mixed-acuity unit within a hospital setting
  • Care for adult and geriatric patients with general chronic medical conditions
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:30
  • Floating within the OSU organization required as needed
  • Call responsibilities required
  • Uses Epic for documentation
  • Medication systems include Pyxis, Accudose, and Omnicell
  • Utilizes SBAR communication method
  • In-house provider support available 24/7

Requirements

  • Active Ohio or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience preferred; candidates with 1 year of experience may be considered pending manager review
  • Progressive care, stepdown, or PCU experience preferred
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and emergency response
  • Experience with Rapid Response/Code teams
  • Competency in isolation precautions and PPE use
  • Experience with respiratory care including nasal cannula and oxygen administration
  • IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line care/management skills
  • 2 professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor; charge RN acceptable for the second reference; coworker references not accepted

Additional Information

  • Deliver progressive care nursing services to adult and geriatric patients with chronic medical conditions
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate
  • Former employees eligible for travel assignment consideration after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
  • Current employees are ineligible for travel assignments at any Ohio State University hospital location
  • RTO must be requested and built into the contract at time of submission, limited to 7 days or less
  • Ohio fingerprinting process must be completed urgently upon contract signing; candidates outside Ohio but within driving distance must travel to a fingerprinting location, while those farther away will receive a mailed fingerprinting packet
