Description

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring 1 year of PCU/telemetry experience and an active OH or compact RN license.

Details

  • Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) of a hospital setting
  • Care for patients requiring telemetry monitoring, including neurological, neurosurgical, spinal cord injury, and plastics/ortho trauma populations
  • Patient ratio of 1:3-4
  • Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • 13-week assignment length
  • Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity level within the health system

Requirements

  • Active RN license (Ohio state or compact) in hand at time of consideration
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of PCU experience required
  • Telemetry skills required, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Experience with arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration preferred
  • Experience with BiPAP/CPAP management, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy care preferred
  • Experience with cardiac and vasoactive drip management preferred; drip titration experience preferred
  • Wound care/wound vac and IV insulin protocol experience preferred
  • Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Two professional references required, with at least one from a Manager/Director or formal leadership role; charge RN acceptable for second reference; coworker references not accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide telemetry-based nursing care to a PCU/stepdown patient population
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
  • Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
  • Current employees of the health system are ineligible for travel assignments at any of its hospital locations
  • Requested RTO must be submitted with the contract and limited to 7 days or less
  • Candidates must be prepared to complete Ohio fingerprinting requirements promptly after signing their contract
