Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring 2 years of PCU experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

  • Work in the PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown unit of a hospital environment
  • Telemetry patient population
  • Estimated patient ratio of 1:3
  • Night shift, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • Weekday and some weekend shifts required
  • Rotating holiday coverage required
  • Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of PCU or Stepdown nursing experience required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Skilled in IV starts and telemetry monitoring
  • Proficient in IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, and medication administration
  • Experience with heparin protocols and cardiac drip management (no titration)
  • Skilled in respiratory care including high flow nasal cannula (HFNC)
  • Cardiac monitoring and emergency response experience, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Experience with IV insulin protocols and titration of insulin drips
  • Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a manager/director or supervisor and the second acceptable from a Charge RN (no coworker references)

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive stepdown/telemetry nursing care including cardiac monitoring, medication management, and respiratory support
  • Previous travel nursing experience preferred but not required
  • Locals accepted at the same rate
  • RTO must be submitted with contract and limited to 7 days or less
  • Former employees eligible for travel assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
  • Current employees are ineligible to be hired as a traveler at any Ohio State University hospital location
  • Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting requirements promptly after signing contract
