Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg-Ortho RN for a night shift inpatient orthopedic unit requiring an active IL RN license and Epic charting experience.

Details

• Inpatient orthopedic and medical/surgical unit within a hospital setting
• Night shift schedule: 7:00PM - 7:30AM, 3 shifts per week, 36 hours weekly
• 6 weekend shifts required within a 6-week period
• Rotating holiday coverage required
• Float to similar units as needed
• Cares for ortho and med/surg patients, managing traction devices, wound appliances, drains, pouches, and urological devices

Requirements

• Active Illinois RN license in good standing (temporary license accepted)
• Current BLS certification (American Heart Association)
• Minimum one year of relevant nursing experience required
• ASN required; BSN preferred
• Epic charting experience required
• Level 1 Trauma center experience required
• Experience with wound vacs, ortho traction, surgical traction devices, and urological devices preferred

Additional Information

• Performs patient assessments each shift and develops individualized plans of care
• Educates patients on wound care, mobility, self-care, medication management, and care transition needs
• Coordinates with physicians and surgeons on patient care plans
• Delegates and monitors care tasks performed by HCT staff
• Maintains accurate and timely nursing documentation
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates not accepted
• RTO limited to no more than 7 total days within the 13-week contract
• Candidates who have worked at this health system continuously for more than 1 year must complete a 6-month break in service before returning
• First-time travelers may be considered for this position
