Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN - Operating Room for a Level I Trauma facility, requiring 3 years of OR experience and BLS certification.

Details

  • Operating Room unit covering Core 3 & 4 specialties including General Surgery, Plastics, GYN, ENT, Trauma, Neuro, Ortho, GU, and Colorectal Robotics
  • 21 operating rooms with an average daily census of 70-80 patients
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
  • On-call requirement of 40-60 hours per 6-week period, which may vary
  • Circulating duties required; scrub experience preferred
  • Floating required within scope to other specialty areas as needed, excluding CV & Transplant
  • Uses Cerner charting system

Requirements

  • Active RN license (IN or Compact) required, must be in hand prior to start date
  • BLS certification required; ACLS and PALS preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of OR experience required (may be reduced to 2+ years with at least 1 year of Level I trauma experience)
  • Level I Trauma experience required
  • Cerner charting experience required
  • Experience with a broad range of surgical procedures including hysterectomy, colon resection, craniotomy, spinal fusion, joint replacement, and robotic-assisted surgery preferred
  • Da Vinci Xi Surgical System experience preferred
  • Two supervisor references required for consideration
  • Nursing degree from a school accredited by ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation

Additional Information

  • Provide circulating and scrub support across a wide range of surgical specialties in a high-volume Level I Trauma OR
  • Scrubs provided by facility
  • Free parking available
  • Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
  • Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO can be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval
  • All travelers are required to float within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital as needed
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates residing within Indiana are accepted at a lower pay package
  • Former IU Health perm or PRN employees must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler
  • Travelers who have accrued 12 months of employment within IU Health must take a designated break to reset eligibility before reapplying
