Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Operating Room RN with Level I Trauma experience for a fast-paced surgical services position requiring on-call and holiday coverage.

Details

  • Operating Room setting within a short-term acute care hospital
  • Core service line includes General, Plastic, GYN, ENT, Trauma, Neuro, Ortho, GU, and Colorectal Robotics surgical procedures
  • 21 operating rooms with an average daily census of 70-80 patients
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 11:00 to 23:30
  • Call required, approximately 6 call shifts within a 6-week period
  • No block scheduling
  • Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals to meet facility needs
  • Circulating duties required, scrub duties preferred
  • Uses Cerner charting system

Requirements

  • Active IN or Compact RN license required, must be in hand prior to start
  • BLS certification required; ACLS and PALS preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of RN experience required (may be reduced to 2 years with at least 1 year of Level I trauma experience)
  • Level I Trauma experience required
  • Cerner charting experience preferred
  • Strong OR skill set across multiple specialties including General Surgery, Gynecology, Neurology, Orthopedics, Urology, and ENT procedures
  • Robotic surgery experience preferred, including Da Vinci Xi Surgical System
  • Two supervisor references required
  • Graduated from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration

  • Circulate and support surgical teams across a wide range of specialties including trauma, neuro, ortho, GYN, GU, and colorectal robotics cases
  • Scrubs provided by facility
  • Free parking available
  • Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
  • Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO may be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates residing within Indiana are accepted at a lower pay package for this Surgical Services position
  • Former IU Health perm or PRN employees must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler
  • Current or past IU Health travelers who have completed 12 months of travel employment must complete a designated break before starting a new assignment
