Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Transplant OR RN for a 13-week assignment requiring 2 years of strong transplant experience and an IN or compact RN license.

Details

  • Operating Room unit performing solely abdominal transplant surgeries: kidney, pancreas, liver, and intestinal/multi-visceral
  • Day shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
  • Weekend shifts preferred
  • Call requirement of 40-60 hours per 6-week period
  • Float required to multiple specialties and all surgery types within the hospital or nearby affiliate hospitals
  • Cerner charting system used

Requirements

  • Active IN or compact RN license required, must be in hand at time of start
  • BLS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of strong transplant experience required
  • Regulatory charting experience for transplants required
  • Experience with general surgery procedures including appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, and laparoscopic assisted procedures
  • Experience with cystoscopy and nephrectomy procedures
  • Knowledge of emergency management, fire safety, and latex allergy protocols
  • Knowledge of laser safety, radiation safety, specimen handling/labeling, and universal protocol time-out procedures
  • Nursing degree from a university accredited by ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation
  • 2 supervisor references required
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Perform circulating and scrub duties for abdominal transplant surgeries including kidney, liver, pancreas, and intestinal/multi-visceral cases
  • Experience with robotics including Da Vinci Xi Surgical System, colorectal robotic surgery, gastrointestinal robotic surgery, and transplant robotic surgery is preferred
  • Vascular experience including arteriovenous fistula repair is preferred
  • Cell saver equipment experience preferred
  • First-time travelers are accepted if they have strong 2 years of transplant experience
  • Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
  • RTO of 5 days or less can be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval
  • Indiana residents are not accepted as local candidates for this position
  • Any prior perm or PRN employee of this health system must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler
  • Travelers who have accrued 12 months of employment within this health system must take a consecutive break to reset eligibility: 3 months for out-of-state residents or 6 months for in-state residents
