Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Operating Room RN with cardiovascular and general surgery proficiency for a position requiring circulating and scrub skills across multiple specialties.

Details

• Operating Room unit in a short-term acute care, Level IV Trauma Center and major teaching hospital
• Average daily census of 22 cases
• Shift options include 3x12 Days (0645-1915), 4x10 Days (0700-1700), or evening 4x10s (14:30-23:00)
• Weekend work required
• On-call responsibilities required, approximately 1 day per week plus 1-2 weekends per 4-5 week schedule
• 30-minute response time required when on call
• Uses Cerner and Accudose charting systems

Requirements

• Active WV or Compact RN license required; pending license accepted for consideration
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Minimum 1 year of in-specialty (OR) experience required
• BLS certification required
• Cardiovascular (CV) and general surgery experience required
• Circulating and scrub experience required
• Proficiency required in vein harvesting and radial artery harvesting
• Proficiency required in vascular procedures including AV fistulas/grafts, aortic surgeries/bypasses, femoral-popliteal or distal bypasses, carotids, and embolectomies
• Proficiency required in orthopedic procedures including arthroscopies and total joints
• Proficiency required in general surgery including colorectal/colon resections, laparoscopic assisted surgeries, whipples, liver resections, thyroids, and mastectomies
• Proficiency required in ENT procedures including trachs, laryngectomies, and radical neck dissections
• Proficiency required in urology procedures including cystectomies, nephrectomies, prostatectomies, implants, and cysto-related procedures
• Proficiency required in robotic surgery including gyn, colorectal, hernias, and lap nissens
• Proficiency required in GYN procedures including abdominal/vaginal hysterectomies and posterior/anterior repairs
• Minimum 2 Manager or Charge Nurse references from the past 2 years required
• Driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration

Additional Information

• Circulate and scrub for a wide range of surgical specialties including cardiovascular, vascular, orthopedic, general, ENT, urology, robotics, and GYN procedures
• Scrub color required: Royal Blue, White, or a combination of both
• Holiday RTO requests limited to no more than 1 of the 3 major holidays
• Flu vaccine required during flu season (October 1 - March 31) unless medical exemption documented; not required outside that window
• COVID vaccine not required
• First-time travelers accepted if experience requirements are met
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Former permanent employees must wait 2 years from last permanent employment date before returning as a traveler
• Current employees of the broader health system (including CAMC, Mon Health, Davis Medical Center, Broaddus Hospital, Webster Memorial Hospital, Grafton City Hospital, Highland-Clarksburg Hospital, and Minnie Hamilton Health System) are not eligible for this travel contract
• Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility; those between 75-99 miles may be considered on a case-by-case basis
• Free parking provided for travelers
