American Traveler is hiring an experienced Oncology Clinic RN with surgical oncology experience and a CT or compact RN license for an outpatient clinic role at a Level I Trauma Center.

Details

  • Outpatient Oncology clinic setting at a Level I Trauma Center academic medical center
  • Cares for breast surgery and plastic surgery oncology patients
  • Duties include telephone triage, in-basket management, assisting providers during clinic visits, new and return patient visits, and pre-op/post-op teaching
  • Day shift schedule, 4x10 hours from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM
  • Uses Epic for charting

Requirements

  • Active RN license (CT or Compact) required
  • BLS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Oncology experience required (1.5 years considered with Level I Trauma or travel experience)
  • Surgical oncology experience required, including post-surgical care
  • Experience with biotherapy, immunotherapy, and cytotoxic therapy preferred
  • Ability to recognize and manage oncologic emergencies such as ATLS, anaphylaxis, extravasation injury, hemorrhage, sepsis, and spinal cord compression preferred
  • Experience with symptom management for chemotherapy-related side effects preferred
  • Knowledge of psychosocial care topics including advanced directives, hospice care, and patient/family education preferred
  • Experience caring for patients with various cancer types (breast, lung, colorectal, leukemia, lymphoma, and others) preferred
  • Skilled in care coordination, neutropenic precautions, wound care, and telephone triage
  • 1 professional reference required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Assist providers with new and returning patient visits, pre-op and post-op teaching, and telephone triage
  • Work within a large academic medical center and Level I Trauma Center environment
  • Trauma center experience at a large facility strongly preferred
  • Royal blue scrub color required
  • Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
  • COVID booster required except for religious or medical exemption
  • Completion of RN modules (approximately 4 hours) required pre-start and annually
  • Local candidates not accepted if residing within 75 miles of the facility
  • Previous perm staff must have been separated for at least 2 years to be considered as a traveler
  • Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved
  • First-time travelers may be considered if they meet experience requirements
