Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Outpatient Oncology Clinic practice nurse role requiring 2+ years of oncology experience and a CT or compact RN license.

Details

  • Outpatient oncology clinic setting functioning in a practice nurse capacity, not an infusion role
  • Manage and respond to patient messages through the electronic in-basket
  • Perform phone triage and determine appropriate follow-up or escalation
  • Coordinate care including tests, referrals, appointments, and other aspects of the patient's plan of care
  • Support clinic workflows for a designated outpatient oncology team including documentation and follow-up needs
  • Day shift schedule, 4x10 hour shifts from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM
  • No weekend requirement
  • May float within scope to other specialties to meet facility needs
  • Uses Epic for charting

Requirements

  • Active RN license (CT or compact) required prior to start date
  • BLS certification required
  • Chemo (ONS/ONCC) and ONS/ONCC certifications preferred
  • 2 years of oncology nursing experience required, with consideration for 1.5 years if candidate has Level I trauma or travel experience
  • Ambulatory and phone triage experience required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • 1 professional reference required

Additional Information

  • Provide patient education related to oncology diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and follow-up care
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary oncology team to address patient needs and maintain continuity of care
  • Level I Trauma Center, academic medical center setting with over 1,500 staffed beds
  • Royal blue scrub color required
  • Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
  • COVID vaccine and booster required with religious or medical exemptions only
  • Local candidates not accepted; candidates within 75 miles of the facility are considered local
  • Returning staff must have been separated from permanent employment for at least 2 years to be considered as a traveler
  • Requests for time off greater than 7 days require approval
  • First-time travelers not accepted for this role
