Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse – Acute Leukemia and Hematology – Ohio

Start Date: October 19, 2026

Location: Columbus, Ohio

Schedule: 12-hour rotating day/night shifts; self-scheduling requests accepted to accommodate preferred schedules; variable weekend coverage based on unit needs

Highlights:

  • Specialized 24-bed acute leukemia and hematology unit caring primarily for newly diagnosed acute leukemia patients
  • High-acuity medical unit with focus on blood product administration, IV antibiotics, and electrolyte management
  • Goal staffing ratio of 1:4, maximum 1:5
  • EPIC electronic charting system
  • Comprehensive two-week orientation: first week Monday-Friday dayshift, second week 36 hours on-unit with preceptor
  • Strong interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and social services

Requirements:

  • Active RN license (Compact or Ohio state license required)
  • Minimum 2 years overall nursing experience
  • Required: Medical-surgical oncology experience and at least 1 year inpatient hematology oncology experience
  • Current acute care experience within the last 12 months in hematology oncology specialty
  • Previous travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
  • BLS, ACLS, and ONS Chemotherapy Certification (required)
  • NIHSS certification (preferred)
  • EPIC charting experience required
  • Proficiency in telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
  • Experience with central lines, PICC lines, ports, IV therapy, and blood product administration
  • Nursing degree from ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Flu vaccination required (medical exemptions only)
  • Must complete Ohio fingerprinting process urgently upon contract signing
