Job Opportunity – Progressive Care / Step-Down RN – New York

Start Date: November 2, 2026

Location: Rochester, New York

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-bed progressive care unit with 1:3 nurse-to-patient ratios across all shifts. Every other weekend required. Float to medical-surgical units as needed. 8-hour orientation provided.

Highlights:

  • Fast-paced PCU/Step-Down environment serving adult and geriatric populations with complex, acute care needs
  • Diverse case mix including DKA, acute respiratory patients (BiPAP, high flow, vents/trachs), ETOH withdrawal, sepsis, and other nursing-intensive conditions
  • Epic charting system with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and more
  • First-time travelers welcome with 1+ year of relevant experience
  • Work with specialized equipment including CADDS and PCA pumps
  • Navy blue and white scrubs provided

Requirements:

  • Active New York RN license required at time of submittal
  • ACLS and BLS certifications (current)
  • Minimum 1 year of progressive care, step-down, or telemetry experience
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Proficiency in phlebotomy and IV placement (mandatory competency verification required)
  • Strong skills in telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, central line care, IV insulin protocols, heparin protocols, and insulin drip titration
  • Experience with blood product administration, high flow nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, tracheostomy care, wound care/wound vac, and isolation precautions
  • Must reside more than 75 miles from facility location
  • No more than 10 days of requested time off during assignment
