Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: IMC Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years acute care experience within the last 3 years in the specialty License: RN license Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Vent and transplant experience; telemetry oncology, cardiac, and PCU/DOU/IMC/stepdown experience required Description: Evening/Night, 12-hour shift from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM. Monday through Friday with every other weekend and some holidays required. The RN will work in both the acute medical/progressive care unit and the thoracic unit. Telemetry test must be passed prior to being cleared to start. Experience in an academic Level I or II trauma center or similar size hospital is required. Must have completed 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years. Unit requires strong proficiency in vent and transplant care. Nurses are responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to acutely ill adult patients with multiple comorbidities. Patient diagnoses include cystic fibrosis, pulmonary hypertension, and post-lung transplant care. Nurses work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Patient ratios on the unit are 1:2 for IMC and 1:4 for general care. Travelers may be required to float as needed. Pass/fail testing is required with strict passing criteria for telemetry exams. Failed attempts will require a certificate of completion of a cardiac interpretation review course. The assignment will be cancelled if not passed within three attempts. The facility is recognized as a leading teaching institution and referral center. Nurses must be skilled in the management of acute care patient conditions. Responsibilities include monitoring telemetry, administering blood products, and providing care for ventilated patients. Clinical skills in IV management, central line care, and assessment of vital signs are necessary. This role necessitates strong critical thinking and teamwork capabilities.
