Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Stepdown / PCU / Med Surg / Oncology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years required License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, ONS/ONCC preferred Must-Have: Chemotherapy certification preferred. Strong PCU experience is acceptable without Oncology experience. Charge nurse experience is not required. Description: RN position in a stepdown unit specializing in Oncology and Med Surg. The primary patient population includes adult oncology PCU and trauma PCU patients. The unit has 18 beds. Candidates must pass both a clinical interview and a manager interview. A pass/fail exam will be given during orientation, and candidates must achieve a 90% to pass. Refusal to comply with fingernail policy will lead to termination. Artificial nails are prohibited in departments providing patient care. Traveling RNs may occasionally titrate Insulin and Cardizem drips. Common drips include chemotherapy, heparin, and Cardizem. Travelers should be comfortable managing titratable drips. High flow respiratory equipment is commonly encountered on this unit. The team emphasizes patient experience through hourly rounding and bedside shift reports. The culture values genuine care for patients and a positive attitude. Employees are expected to treat every patient with respect and provide compassionate care. Cancellation policy allows for the hospital to cancel up to four shifts per 13-week assignment. Charting is done in a specified electronic medical record system.
