Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: PCU/Med Surg/Oncology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Chemo certification preferred, but not required Description: The RN will be responsible for providing care in a PCU and Med Surg setting with a focus on oncology patients. The unit primarily serves adult oncology and trauma PCU patients. The nurse will work in an environment with a total of 18 beds. RNs occasionally titrate insulin and Cardizem drips. Common medications include chemotherapy, heparin, Cardizem, and Protonix. Travelers should be comfortable managing high-flow respiratory equipment. Support staff includes nursing assistants, charge nurses, physical and occupational therapists, case managers, social workers, educators, and dietitians. Hourly rounding and bedside shift reports are key patient experience focuses. The team culture values nurses who genuinely care for patients, come to work with a positive attitude, and embrace teamwork. The unit cares for a diverse patient population with respect and compassion. Travelers may float to other Med/Surg and PCU units as needed. Ratios during the night shift are typically 1:4 to 1:5.
