Description:
The department is a fast-paced floor serving adult and geriatric patients.
Common diagnoses include cardiac issues, nephrology, strokes, diabetes, and continuous EEG monitoring.
Ratios are typically 1:4-5 for nursing staff.
Registered Nurses are required to titrate drips, including Cardizem, beta blockers, and seizure medications.
There is a Charge Nurse on each shift, who also takes an assignment.
Nurse aids or patient care techs are available with ratios of 1:10 or 2:20.
Weekend requirements involve working every other weekend.
Holiday requirements entail working every third holiday.
There are no call or standby requirements.
Floating to medical floors, ICUs, or rehabilitation is expected.
The first week includes onboarding, followed by 1-2 days of orientation on the floor.
Successful candidates will demonstrate a positive attitude, help others, communicate effectively, think critically, and solve problems.
A fingernail policy prohibits artificial nails in patient care areas.
A pass/fail exam will take place during orientation; a 90% is required to pass.
Additional time off requests are not approved after initial submission.
The cancellation policy allows for cancellation of up to 4 shifts during a 13-week assignment.
Charting is done in the EPIC system.
This position does not require a BSN.
The care setting is acute and the trauma level is 2.
