# Job Opportunity – Progressive Care / Medical Oncology RN – Ohio
Start Date: October 19, 2026
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour rotating shifts (Day/Night or Night); assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period based on department needs
Highlights:
- 36-bed Oncology Telemetry unit with over 24 progressive care beds and high-acuity patient population
- Patient mix includes solid tumor, orthopedic oncology, and thoracic oncology diagnoses
- Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:3 for PCU patients; 1:4-5 for Med-Surg Telemetry patients
- Oncology experience preferred but not required – ICU and PCU backgrounds also successful
- Epic charting system with GE telemetry monitors, Alaris pumps, and standard progressive care equipment
- 72-hour orientation with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including pharmacy, respiratory, PT, and rapid response teams
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience with at least 1 year of PCU experience (must be current within the last 12 months)
- Active RN license (Compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Nursing education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
- Previous travel experience preferred
- Willingness to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity
- 2 professional references required (at least 1 from manager/director or formal leadership; Charge RN acceptable as second reference)
Essential Skills:
- Interpretation of dysrhythmias and use of rapid response teams
- Accessing ports, blood product administration, and central/PICC line management
- IV starts, feeding tube care, and heparin protocols
- Managing cardiac drips (no titration), PCA pumps, and chest tube management
- BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, tracheostomy management, and ABG interpretation
- Strong infection prevention protocols and patient fall prevention practices
Preferred Skills:
- Chemotherapy administration and monitoring
- IV insulin and insulin drip titration protocols
- Cardiac drip titration and management of dysrhythmias
- Arterial line management, wound care/wound VAC, and surgical drain management
- Phlebotomy and non-invasive airway management
